Or: The Christening of the Grill.
Hooray!
I’ve been looking forward to tonight all weekend long. I was just hoping the weather reports would remain constant, promising us 70-degree weather and sun galore. Guess what? It actually happened! And so we brought out the new grill grate and fired ol’ Red up.
I put some asparagus in a foil packet with some butter, salt, and pepper, and let it cook for the better part of half an hour while the potatoes baked in the oven indoors for 60 minutes. Near the end of the asparagus’s cooking time, I threw on the Tofurky Italian “sausage,” and nearer still to dinnertime, I put two hot-dog buns on to toast.
The end result? A summertime feast!
The stats:
Buns: $2.59/eight ($0.33/person)
Tofurky Italian sausage: $2.99/four ($0.75/person)
Potatoes: $0.68 ($0.34/person)
Asparagus: $4.69 ($2.35/person)
Onion: $1.49/seven ($0.11/person)
Herbs: FREE! from the garden!
GRAND TOTAL: $12.44 … or $3.88 per person.
BUT WAIT! We’ve got two sausages left over for lunches. So the per-person price goes down even more!
:)
