(In which I wax poetic about the grill again. Please forgive me.)
Nothing kicks a week off like a barbecue, and tonight we fell into lockstep with many other American families by grilling out on Memorial Day. Tonight, while our baked beans cooked indoors, our ears of corn from the farmer’s market cooked in two foil packets, and closer to dinnertime, I threw four Morningstar Farms Grillers on as well, putting some cheese on one for LeeLee. Just before dinner was ready, we toasted the hamburger buns and served the meal with mayo, ketchup, ramp mustard, onion, tomato, and fresh lettuce from the garden. In a few minutes we’ll sit down to a dessert of fresh cantaloupe — I can’t wait!
As we ate outside for the third time in this long weekend, our Tiki torches blazing and the breeze rustling through the trees, it made me feel so thankful for what we have. And on this Memorial Day, I’m especially thankful for our military personnel, who have given so much for this country. I could never fully express my gratitude for everything they do and everything they have sacrificed.
No stats today, in keeping with the long weekend, but rest assured I’ll be back on that train tomorrow.
