Just a short post today, because my husband of five years is taking me out to dinner in a few minutes. But I did just want to comment on today’s anniversary picnic and outing at the National Arboretum, where we wandered amid the herb garden and the bonsai walk and the Asian collection. It was a fantastic afternoon!
For our picnic, we brought along sandwiches made with Tofurky Italian deli slices on Asiago bread as well as a bean-and-corn salad served on a bed of lettuce, with fresh strawberries on the side and coconut granola bars for dessert. It was the perfect lunch for a hot June day!
Now: On to one of our favorite restaurants. It’s not Chez Recessionista, but it’ll have to do! ;)

Happy anniversary. The Arboretum was awesome, and Trattoria de Franco was da bomb — even if it wasn’t very recessionista.

Ah, but that is the beauty of being recessionista most of the time — we can go out and enjoy the more expensive side of life and not feel like we’re breaking the bank! :)
Thanks again for dinner, by the way. My heart may wander to carbonara and pesto, but it always comes back to Capellini d’Angelo Napoletana in the end. :)
