Well, this is turning out to be a week of comfort foods! I didn’t intend for the menu plan to be this way, but I confess that I’m not complaining, either. :)
We hadn’t had Hamburger Helper (well, Safeway’s equivalent, anyway) in quite some time, but some nights it just makes sense to throw something quick and easy together, pair it with a salad, and call it a day. Of course, I’m not trying to relegate Hamburger Helper just to the quick-and-easy category; I happen to like it, too! And I’m a firm believer that, when integrated into a balance diet, it’s not devoid of nutrition or sending us on the road to wreck and ruin.
The salad made me feel a little better about that, too.
Anyway, the next couple of meals I’ve got planned will, I hope, tilt the balance back a little bit from prepackaged foods. But in the meantime, we’re relishing our foray into the Comfort Foods of The Week!
The stats:
Hamburger Helper: $1.99 ($1.00/person)
Ground “beef”: $4.99 ($2.50/person)
Salad: $3.99 ($2.00/person)
GRAND TOTAL: $10.97 … or $5.50 per person.
