Well, leave it to me to put a damper on my own re-entry into blog society.
Clearly, I have not really gotten the hang of this whole timely-blogging thing again quite yet. :) As is my way, my eyes were bigger than my writing stomach, as it were, and right after I relaunched The Kitchen Recessionista, I promptly left for a week of visiting family in Florida, followed closely by several more days of hosting dear friends up this way. But now I am here, and our guests have departed (and we miss them terribly!), so it is time to roll up my sleeves and get back into the kitchen!
That’s not to say I haven’t been cooking all the while, though. Heavens, no. Football season necessitates a certain standard of fare, after all, and weeknight meals must carry on. So here I am, in not-so-triumphant fashion. But I hope you’ll enjoy the postcards of what we’ve been up to the last couple of weeks, at any rate, and swing back around tomorrow night for dinner. The weather is finally turning here in the Mid-Atlantic region, so I’ve got a nice, homey, piping-hot meal planned out!

Our schedules may have been wacky, but we managed to comfort ourselves with some home-cooked meals nevertheless. We enjoyed spaghetti and “meatballs” with baked eggplant and homemade, canned pasta sauce:
