Friends, I must confess something. It is later in the evening than I would like it to be while I’m talking to you, and I am a bit tired. So if you’d permit me to write a quick list-style post instead of my normal rambling musings, I’d be grateful. :)
7 NOTEWORTHY TIDBITS ABOUT TONIGHT’S MEAL
In random order …
- Tonight’s baked potatoes were from our hand-picked batch back in August!
- We still have parsley thriving in the backyard herb garden, much to my surprise and delight. (LeeLee was confident it was there all along.)
- The Brussels sprouts we used tonight were purchased yesterday at Mr. Lopez’s stand at the farmer’s market. I love chatting with Mr. Lopez and was surprised to see that his little helper – his elementary-school-aged daughter – wasn’t by his side yesterday. “Too cold,” he said. Maybe next week!
- We smoked the tofu atop the same hickory plank as last week’s seitan. Magical!
- Nutritional yeast really makes a baked potato sing.
- Unlike last week, the smoker was back to its normal law-abiding self. No unruliness tonight.
- Fresh-baked friendship bread makes a delightful dessert.
