Now this is a meal I hadn’t had in awhile!
Usually, I make my gumbo with chik’n. But today, I was still in a chorizo mood after yesterday’s quesadilla fiesta, so I added some veggie sausage instead. It was so good! I really loved the flavors, as well as our New Orleans spice blend, put to its inaugural test today.
Gumbo is a meal I grew up with, and it never disappoints. And the best part is that we’ve got more for leftovers tomorrow!
The stats:
Chorizo: $4.99 ($2.50/person)
Mixed vegetables: $2.50 ($1.25/person)
Vegetable broth: $1.99 ($1.00/person)
Okra: $2.50 ($1.25/person)
Diced tomatoes: $1.69 ($0.85/person)
Rice: $2.19 ($1.10/person)
GRAND TOTAL: $15.86 … or $7.95 per person.
BUT WAIT! This meal makes at least one additional portion for leftovers. So the per-person price goes down even more!
