If it’s a beautiful Saturday night, it must be time for another cookout!
We had a pre-race cookout (I had a 10K scheduled for Sunday) with some friends, one of whom was also running said race and thus did not mind that the evening was to end early. And early ending or not, it turned out to be a lovely evening. Good weather, good conversation, and good food – what could be better?
I bought a bunch of asparagus at the farmer’s market on Saturday morning and promptly threw it in a foil packet with some butter, salt, pepper, and garlic powder to cook on the grill for half an hour. About 20 minutes before serving, I tossed some onion rings in a baking pan and set them in the oven. And five minutes after that, I put our Morningstar Farms Grillers on the grill, and not long after, dinner was served!
I was pleased to see that not a single sliver of the meal was left by dinner’s end, save for a couple of errant raw onion slices that had no hamburger home. We finished up the evening with some blueberry scones that our friends brought along, topped with some homemade strawberry jam – heaven!
