I wasn’t planning on making a calzone tonight – in fact, I wasn’t really planning on making a calzone ever. But then, this afternoon, I got to talking with some friends about some of the new restaurants popping up around the city, and the subject turned to a new pizzeria down the street.
“I had a calzone there last time,” I told my lunchmates. “It really was quite good.”
And that, really, is all it took. The calzone seed was planted, and it grew all afternoon.
And when LeeLee said he was running late and thus wouldn’t be able to start dinner until around 7 (it was supposed to be his night to cook), I found my perfect excuse.
“How about a calzone?”
“I haven’t had a calzone in years!”
So after work, off to the grocery store I went for supplies, and when I got home, I spent all of five minutes concocting a custom-made calzone. Twenty-five minutes in the oven, and it was ready! And just a few minutes after that, it was gone. (Evidence below.)
